Additional Fatal Revenant: The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant Information

The instant New York Times bestseller, and the return of the Thomas Covenant series— “a landmark fantasy saga.”(Entertainment Weekly)

In the most eagerly-awaited literary sequel in years, Linden Avery, who loved Thomas Covenant and watched him die at the end of Book Six, has returned to the Land in search of her kidnapped son, Jeremiah. As Fatal Revenant begins, Linden watches from the battlements of Revelstone while the impossible happens—riding ahead of the hordes attacking Revelstone are Jeremiah and Covenant himself, apparently very much alive. But Covenant is strangely changed…

What Customers Say About Fatal Revenant: The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant:

I LOVE this series and can't wait for the final book to be finished. What a great book.

Finally, Donaldson's habit of using obscure words in nearly every paragraph loses its charm very quickly. etc). Between Roger Covenant, Lord Foul, and numerous other fiends, the plot gets irredeemably confusing. I play lots of Scrabble and can appreciate a new word here and there--but when half the new words don't even show up in the Kindle dictionary and 90% could be replaced by every-day synonyms with no loss of meaning, things have gone too far. elohim vs. I've been a fan of the Thomas Covenant series for years, but Donaldson seems to have taken the theme a few steps too far in Fatal Revenant.

It seems that every 5 pages I rolled my eyes as Linden AGAIN just had to walk to some isolated peak or swim in some magic lake in order to feel strong again, usually with some nostalgic flashback to the last time she was in the Land. Without any major military or physical component, the whole theme becomes tired quickly. Throughout the book, Linden Avery is constantly urging her companions to hurry so she can free her son. staff of law vs. I sympathized, wanting the plot to hurry along and get to a point.

It's also hard to stay engaged because the whole story revolves around whether one combination of magics can defeat another (white gold vs.

Her frustration is too long drawn out that it was a tedious experience to finish this book. I liked the Thomas Covenant as a character, and charms of The Land. The story is so long in the telling that the author seems to be growing tired of the story. The story was intriguing, and did not rehash the same territory as the second chronicles, but rather built on that story.

I am a huge fan of Stephen R. The ending of this book, rather than eliciting a feeling of anticipation for what is to come, elicits a sense of mild dread at story that has to be slogged through to conclude the entire series. Linden Avery, in this second novel, is in such a constant state of angst because of her son's captivity that it becomes tiresome for the reader. Donaldson.

The plot moved quickly and you can feel that Linden Avery was beginning to develop as a character.Sad to say that Fatal Revenant is suffering from Saga Fatigue. Contrast this with the sense of wonder and pleasure that can be felt at the end of the Wounded Land or the even the Runes of the Earth. I was hooked from the very first Thomas Covenant novel: Lord Foul's Bane. There was a certain dark humor present at times, that leavened the story. The third, and final chronicles started off well with The Runes of The Earth.

This is an incredible tale of personal torment, and trying to find a way to explain how this can happen in one's world literally and figuratively. I think this is supported by the depth of descriptions (that use incredible vocabulary) as an attempt to guage the depth and breadth of all the ills she intends to cure. As she collects perceptions of what is right and wrong with the world she is now a part of, she thinks she is cataloging all the problems that will be addressed, unfortunately.Perceptions are tainted, emotions are betrayed, and hope is reft from Avery. The theme that stuck in my mind from ROTE is that; unfortunately, those that are most determined to try to address tortures from their own past are the ones that are least capable dealing with the issue. The deeper the emotions, and one's seeming understanding of reality only lead one to beleive that one can influence the situation, but the game is bigger that expected, and the tools that one has at their use are ineffective.I am eager to see where SD takes us next. She has devoted her life to healing and making up for assumed deficiencies in her past; partially by adopting her son. Linden Avery is the personfication of this principle. She finds herself in what appears to be the ultimate opportunity to prove herself an activist for all the issues that have haunted her.

Horrible, painfully awkward prose. I don't know what happened. I don't think that Stephenson has any idea how to write female characters. I'll agree that he is trying to come up with a stilted anachronistic dialogue, but even overviews and scene descriptions are true crap writing style. Maybe my tastes have changed drastically since reading the other books in this series, or Donaldson is just spewing words out on a page. I could not finish this.
